I have been interested but I was not ready to commit to the $20 for a sponge. In an attempt to test out the sponge I purchased a sponge from Ulta for $4. Today I am going to review the Beauty Blender and compare the two.
The sponge on the left is the Beauty Blender and the sponge on the right is the Ulta version. They are both dry. The Beauty Blender is a bit smaller than the Ulta sponge.
The ultimate test for the Beauty Blender was how it applied makeup to my face.

I really loved how the Beauty Blender applied the makeup to my face. The softer texture of the Beauty Blender made it easier to manipulate than the Ulta sponge and really was much easier to use. I felt like I had more control in applying the product.
When I purchased my Beauty Blender it came with some cleaner. I decided to try out the cleaner.
Before
After
The cleaner easily removed the foundation on the sponge from use. The only complaint I have with the cleanser is the smell. I do not know how to accurately describe the smell, but it is very off putting and stays with the sponge after you have finished washing. I will use the product I have, but I am not sure I will repurchase that.
The bottom line is that the Ulta sponge gets the job done, but the Beauty Blender does the job much better. I would have been happy with the cheaper sponge if I had not encountered the Beauty Blender, but you can tell the quality difference between the two.
I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this product if you are looking for a new applicator for foundation. This is my new favorite way of applying foundation. I feel like I get great coverage with less product. I also love the way foundation seems to feel lighter on my skin when applied this way.
